Day 03·The Generalization Problem
Lecture·1 / 30
Why this day exists
You can remember the answers to a practice sheet. That does not tell us how you will handle a different sheet.
A model can also look good on familiar examples. Yesterday we kept some flowers outside training for that reason.
But unfamiliar rows are not always unfamiliar situations. Two rows may describe the same person. A field may reveal something that happens after the answer is needed.
We need to ask what the test actually tests, before we decide what its score allows us to claim.
