Day 01·What Machine Learning Actually Is
Lecture·1 / 27

Why this day exists

Imagine estimating how long a delivery will take.

You could write a rule using the distance. But two trips of the same distance can take different amounts of time.

You also have records of previous trips. Those records might help you make a better estimate.

The computer still needs instructions. The question is which part you specify yourself, and which part the examples help it choose.

That distinction is the beginning of machine learning.
